STEVE RIDER VISITING OAKE MANOR!

STEVE RIDER VISITING OAKE MANOR!

We are very excited to have Steve Rider coming to Oake Manor on Saturday 22nd October.

Steve Rider is our Speaker for our Charity Sports Dinner this year. The dinner is in aid of Peter Alliss Masters ~ Powered Wheelchair crusade, a charity chosen by this years Captains, Richard and Jane Clist. Peter Alliss Masters is fantastic charity that provides wheelchairs and other mobility aids to local children.

Steve Rider is a personal friend of Peter and Jackie Alliss, it was Jackie Alliss who made the connection and arranged to have him at Oake Manor. Jackie we can never thank you enough!!

peter alliss steveSteve Rider is recognisable for most sports fans, he is the only person to have presented all the major sports magazine shows – including Grandstand, Sportsnight and World of Sport. As well as bring the front of Formula One and the Rugby World Cup. After replacing Des Lynam on Grandstand, Steve Rider went on to become a well known Golf presenter particularly associated with the US Masters. Which is obviously why so many of our golfers seem interested in seeing him, in particular Lewis Hanney one of our Golf Professional wanted his name down first for tickets!! It also seems we have some lady members who remember him for his charm!

We have heard that in his after dinner speech he will be revealing the perils of live broadcasting, dodgy autocues and trying to present Olympics coverage across different time zones. We may be lucky and he might also reflect on his time as host of Sports Personality of the Year!

Steve Rider has twice won the Royal Television Society’s Sports Presenter of the Year award, and collected two BAFTAs throughout a career spanning many years …… he is going to have some fantastic stories to tell and we are eagerly awaiting to hear them.

Tickets for our Speaker Dinner are £35 and include a delicious three course meal. The evening will finish with an amazing auction …. I have been told there are many high profile sport prizes available! To get your tickets CLICK HERE
